Civia Makes Bikes for the Way You Live
Civia creates transportation for everyone. We make simple, elegant bikes and products that take you to work, to school, the grocer—anywhere you need to go. Whether you’re commuting hours a day or just pedaling a few blocks to the train station, our bikes and system of components, accessories and clothing keep you and your stuff on the move. At Civia, we see bikes as a vital link in the future of alternative transportation. We sincerely believe life’s better by bike and strive to make your daily transportation choices a lot more pleasant and sustainable. That’s why it is our mission to create products that inspire you to leave the car keys at home—and ride your bike.
Because you expect a lot from your ride, we engineer our bikes for optimal utility, comfort and performance. From purpose-specific frame geometry to handlebars, forks, racks, fenders, panniers and clothing, our obsession with fit, function and detail extends across the whole Civia line.

Living and riding year-round in Minnesota, we encounter some pretty brutal weather. Despite that, each member of our small design, engineering and management team rides thousands of miles a year. We ride all kinds of bikes, too—just to see what works and what can be improved upon. When something disappoints us, we don’t get mad—we get designing. Many of our best ideas were born from bust-ups, breakdowns and good old-fashioned snow, mud and rain. Our real-world laboratory inspires us to create solutions that will enhance your riding experience and make cycling your preferred mode of transportation.
Our Values
Passion
We are passionate about life and how the bicycle enhances it. That’s why we are committed to creating the best bikes for our journeys to work, the grocer, the beach and beyond. By creating a new breed of bicycles, we are spreading our joy and enthusiasm for cycling with an ever-expanding circle of riders.
Respect
Bicycles intimately link us to our neighborhoods, towns, cities and the environment. Building on these connections, we develop deep respect for our community and the environment in which we live.
Sustainability
We are committed to sustainable business practices and developing long-lasting relationships. By forging strong partnerships with like-minded people we cultivate mutually beneficial, long-lasting relationships.
We are where we ride
The Twin Cities is a region sprinkled with countless neighborhoods and parks. Many of these places are so integral to our experience of living, riding and working in the metro area that we named our models after them. Although our bikes were inspired by specific places, their appeal is timeless and universal. So if you’re ever visiting the Twin Cities, come share the pleasure we experience daily by touring our wonderful parks, preserves and lakeside trails. Remember, no matter how beautiful you find the scenery, it looks that much better when you’re riding a Civia.
Hyland Lake Park Reserve
Our inaugural model, the Hyland, was named for this beautiful preserve. With nine miles of paved bike trails winding past lakes, rolling prairies and woodlands, Hyland Lake Park Reserve is a living example of why we love to bike. Because Civia’s offices are conveniently located on the preserve’s southern borders, we have a great excuse to cruise these peaceful trails every day. Not so coincidentally, the park is 10 to 15 miles from most of our homes—just the distance the Hyland is optimized to travel.
Linden Hills
The Linden was inspired by the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis, a must stopover when we’re cruising the trails along the Chain of Lakes. Tucked beside the western shore of Lake Harriet, this quaint urban village offers cozy cafés and restaurants for refueling and fashionable shops and boutiques for browsing. It’s also home to the Linden Hills Co-op, a great place to stock up on bread, Brie and fresh fruit for a lakeshore picnic. The nearby Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway makes it easy to scoot to downtown Minneapolis or tour the green edge of the city along 50 miles of paved bike trails.
Bryant Avenue
It seemed only natural to name the Bryant, a dedicated commuter with plenty of street smarts, after this gritty, urban bike corridor. Stretching from scenic Minnehaha Parkway on its southern tip, through Bohemian Uptown, it ends on Hennepin Avenue just before downtown Minneapolis. Much more than a north-south connector for cyclists, the four-mile stretch offers riders homey breakfast spots, chic cafés, quirky corner grocers and co-ops, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and late-night hot spots. Sometimes, after a hot commute home, we like to stop by the Bryant Lake Bowl, an eclectic restaurant, playhouse and bowling alley, for a cool brew and an awesome plate of nachos.
Loring Park
The Loring, our sleek and stylish errand runner, is named for Loring Park, an island of green on the edge of downtown Minneapolis. Surrounded by schools, colleges, art museums and theaters, the Loring-Park area is the kind of environment the Loring was designed to ride. Whether we’re riding over to the farmer’s market to fill our baskets with fresh produce or heading into the city to catch an exhibit at the Walker Art Center, we start and end many urban adventures along the tree-lined bike trails of Loring Park—one of our favorite urban gems.
Midtown Greenway
Spanning east to west across the city, the Midtown Greenway is a bustling central artery fed by dozens of commuter trails. Our Midtown model, a simple yet elegant workhorse, honors the hardest working trail in the Twin Cities. Connecting downtown Minneapolis with Uptown, the Chain of Lakes park system and the western suburbs beyond, the Greenway unites a tapestry of commercial, cultural and residential enclaves. A much-frequented spot along the trail is the Midtown Global Market (MGM), a colorful international bazaar where we like to tour our taste buds across a world of authentic ethnic cuisines. Housed in the historic Sears Building, the MGM also offers plenty of handmade crafts, clothing and jewelry—just the kind of haul the Midtown was designed to carry.
