Passion and Detail

Civia is unapologetically committed to high-quality bicycle transportation. We bring design, engineering and craftsmanship to our bicycles, components and accessories, creating incredible experiences.  All we do is bicycle transportation: getting you and your stuff to and from where you need to be.  This focused attention allows us to provide the best bicycle, component or accessory for its intended purpose.

Typically, Civia owners are cyclists that already have a good road or mountain bike and understand the characteristics that make for a good ride.  If a Civia is their first bike, they know from other purchases that the best deal doesn’t always have the lowest price; spending a little more where it counts can be well worth it.  Our strength is in subtlety and detail that may not be apparent until examined up close. A Civia’s ride quality speaks for itself and is undeniably our best sales person.

We guide our business by three principles:  Passion, Respect and Sustainability.  We’re passionate about bicycles and the lifestyle they provide.  We respect our community and the environment.  We seek sustainability from our relationships and our business.  These principles are core to everything we do and we publicly proclaim that through the three dots in our logo.

Transportation presents the greatest opportunity to help cycling realize its full potential.  Recreation and racing, while glamorous and lucrative, are primarily hobbies and don’t impact everyone’s lives. Bicycle transportation has the power to transform nearly everyone’s experience for the better.  With passion, high quality and attention to, we set out to lead cycling into its greatest era.

Fenders, Fork and Rack Now in Stock

We're excited to announce that we have inventory of our aluminum fenders, steel fork and aluminum rear rack.  Our fenders are available in matte Sage Green, matte Slate Blue, and matte Black.

Our fenders are designed for maximum wheel coverage.  The rear fender wraps the rear wheel slightly more than 180 degrees.  Any more wrap, and you wouldn't be able to remove your rear wheel.  The front fender wraps low in the back to prevent front wheel spray from getting your feet wet.

The front fork is steel and has a post-mount disc brake tab.  In addition to mid-leg rack bosses, it also includes our proprietary dynamo-wire cable channel on the inside of the drive-side leg.

Our rear rack is made from tubular aluminum and is adjustable for different bicycles.  Because we intellegently designed our bike's sliding dropout mounted disc brake, we didn't have to compromise our rack's strength and aesthetic to accommodate a seatstay mounted disc brake.  The Civia rear rack is rated to 40lbs.

Fall has been around for a few weeks now.  Most of the leaves have fallen.  Now it's looking like early winter is setting in.  This morning, the temp was in the low 20's and frost was on the ground.  I enjoy these early season crisp rides in.  They become less entertaining as the winter wears on and the novelty of dressing warm is long gone.  ...and SAD sets in.

On a different but related note, I'm going to win my personal challenge.  At the beginning of the year, I put my goal as riding more miles on my bike to and from work than I would drive my pick-up truck in any form.  So far, I've ridden 3,060 miles to and from work this year.  My truck has only been driven 2,000 miles so far.  Some of those miles are mine, some are others.  It's sort of a community truck and I'm happy to loan it out to my friends that need to haul stuff.

So right now, I'm up a thousand miles.  I figure I've got another 20 or so days in the office this year, that should put my commuting mileage total at about 3,600.  That will be a personal best and will likely put me up about +1,200 for the year in the race against my truck.  I call that a success.
